On the 8th of December 2021, Meta enabled professional mode to its Facebook users in the US.

Like the name implies, it’s a professional set-up for normal profiles.

In other words, the tools and features you could only see on a Facebook page, with professional mode turned on, on your profile, you can see them too.

 

Why was professional mode introduced?

In the words of Meta, “We want creators to reach their full potential on Facebook and that means giving you ways to earn money and providing insights so you can understand what types of posts resonate with your community.

Meta (Meta is actually the parent company of Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp) wants you to become active on Facebook, and create more valuable content for your community.

 

  1. Giving you ways to earn more money:

Meta wants to reward you with money (and no more just likes, comments and shares) for sharing valuable content with your audience, using their platform, Facebook.

 

  1. Providing Insight:

Meta wants you to become an active contributor and money. However, they know that if you can’t see the insight of your account, you won’t know what’s working and what’s not.

PS: With insight, you can see stuff like how many people share your post, how many people visited your profile, etc.

 

These three keywords were the reason professional mode was introduced…

To help you reach your full potential,

To pay you for doing that and

To provide you the insight needed to thrive.

What are the other benefits of this professional mode?

Aside from the listed benefits above, you get the chance to also:

 

  1. Grow your email list:

All you have to do is add a call-to-action button on your page that encourages your followers and profile visitors to subscribe.

Facebook accounts might start getting banned as frequently as it happens on Instagram, so you should definitely take your email marketing game to a better level.

  1. Your profile can now be followed:

Unlike the normal profile, where turning on the follow option was a bit difficult, via the professional mode, you can easily activate the follow option on your profile and it’ll look just exactly like a page.

  1. You can invite people that like your posts and comments to follow you:

When people like your posts or comments, you can invite them to follow your profile just like it’s done on Facebook pages.

  1. You’d likely experience a huge increase in your followers after the switch from normal profile to professional mode.

That’s because, when you switch to professional mode, your friends and existing followers will be summed to become just followers. 4,000 friends + 1,200 followers = 5,200 followers on professional mode.

 

Talking about the money, how exactly will you make it?

For now, the only available option via the professional mode is the Reels Play Bonus Program.

It was put together to help pay you in dollars like YouTube and TikTok, based on the number of views your reels get. You post an original reel. If you’re eligible, you get paid when people view it.

In the words of Meta, “It allows eligible creators to earn up to USD 35,000 ($35,000) a month based on the views of their qualifying reels.”

What a time to be alive, right?

 

Why is the professional mode not available to you yet?

It might be, but it’ll come to that soon.

For now, it’s important for you to note that the professional mode was introduced and made available to only a small group of people in the US.

 

However, Facebook has expanded the number of people across different countries that now have access to it, but not everyone has access yet to it.

Currently, the professional mode is on invite only. In other words, you just come online on Facebook to see that you’ve been invited to join the professional mode.

Once you accept it, you’re in.

 

You might have the option to turn on professional mode already, but you don’t know.

Here’s how to check:

 

Click the three dots on the right-hand side on your profile.

 

See the attached image

  1. Check if the circled option is available there or not.

If it is, good!

You can turn it on.

If it isn’t, be patient, you’ll get it soon.

 

Note 1: You can turn off the professional mode, but I don’t advise you to do so for now, seeing that it’s still in test mode. Some people have complained about turning it off and not seeing it again.

Note 2: I’ve seen people tell people to pay them money to turn it on. Please don’t fall prey to such things. No one can turn it on for you.
