In these days of today there is traditional and cultural awareness in the area of the communicative values in shoe, where dresses people wear tell a lot about the wearers personality, tribe, class and mode, the need to build a standard Leather servicing  house and at the same time create employment opportunity to members of the public cannot be over emphasized.

Government is aware of the increasing number of unemployed youths in the country and has been fighting tooth and nail embarking on programmes that will train the youths and create jobs for the graduates and school leavers; and also render financial assistance to retired public and private civil servants  inorder to expand their projects.

One of such programmes embarked upon is the National Entrepreneurship Development Programme (NEDEP)/One Local Government One Product (OLOP). This programme will not only train the entrepreneurs on how to source for funds, start business and make profit while becoming an employer of labour but will also increase the output of goods and services to meet the market demand in the country.

With this call to start our businesses, the writers of this report, which is CUBY’S BESPOKE SHOES in 10 URUA EKPA  road in Uyo Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State has proposed to establish a Leather servicing /shoe making and Costume Leather works  Outfit in Uyo,the Capital city of  Akwa Ibom State because people in the State capital are searching for well-made indigenous shoe wears.

The importance of leather servicing  to man cannot be over-emphasized as it is one of the primary needs of man. Men and women of our time changes shoes  as they change their cosmetic and every weekend in our society is pregnant with functions and each function requires an entirely new outfit.

People have shifted to buying imported outfit because of its ready to wears nature. But the problem with these products as enumerated by the prospective customers is that the sizes used are obtainable there (abroad) and the makers make mass production. And so the consumers are asking for individualized or personalized kind of outfit that is ready to wear in the shops.

This industry is therefore set to consider these needs by using African Leathers to build ready to wear outfit considering the sizes of our men and women.

The markets survey recently conducted proved that there is a very high demand for ready to wear indigenous outfit and that the demand is greater than supply, hence the scarcity and high; cost of the product. Given that the ones bought in from Mali and Senegal are really expensive. The consumers can therefore be identified as follows:

1) Men
2) Women
3) Children
4) Retailers
5) Exporte

The project will involve buying, sewing, leather polishing and production of varieties of shoes/products that will be operated by the workers. The products will be corporate styles wears, and traditional styles wears, building costumes according to tribes as desired by the consumers. Production is for retailers and exports.

The outfit is located  at No.10 Urua ekpa Road,Uyo,akwa Ibom state which is the operational base of the business.

The shop, which is already in use for this business, is a two-room shop. The inner room will be used for production while the outer will be for sales. The location is within Uyo Metropolis.

The general objectives of this study is to assess the proposed project to determine its technical feasibility and economic viability or otherwise.

  1. a) To assess the whole project in terms of costs and returns to determine its financial profitability.
  2. b) To evaluate the project by the use of various evaluation measures to determine its economic viability.
  3. c) To examine the different component of the project and see if each is technically feasible.
  4. d) To make recommendation for investment on the basis of the results of the tests.

The total cost of the project will be N6,500.00 of which the proprietor has provide N1,500,000.00 as his equity contribution and N5,000,000.00 is to be raised as loan from government or NGOs.
